Robert Big Picture Reich Teach-in

The Teach-in was an outstanding success with a good number of the attendees being students.  We had speakers including Dr. John Lee who spoke about the hugely successful economics book by Thomas Pikkety and an overview (view / download the Piketty slideshow) by Gordon Miller.  The audience then viewed 5 of Prof. Reich's 3 minute videos - each focused on a different subject related to money in politics.  The audience then formed 5 break-out groups each focused on one of the Reich subjects with the goal of recommending civic actions for each of the issues in the videos.  We are planning a follow-up general meeting where we'll focus in on the actions.

Money Out! People In! made contributions in several ways, including financial, organizing and providing a charter bus to the final rally in Sacramento.  This that was planned and carried out by 99Rise, one of our coalition partners.

This important, challenging and exciting project is being initiated by 99Rise, an international organization dedicated to getting big money out of politics. Lawrence Lessig and Dolores Huerta among many others are committed to marching with them and a wide variety of organizations are getting on board as endorsers and promoters.  They will deliver a simple demand to the leaders of our nation’s biggest state: publicly acknowledge the crisis of corruption and take immediate action to end it.
